What new services is IPD developing?

IPD has responded to calls for a database of reliable INSET providers for consultancy or school INSET days by publishing the new IPD 'Directory of Providers'. The Directory lists almost 100 commercial providers in one or more of nine categories, with all of those listed having been recommended by at least one GSA/HMC member. Many have also worked closely with IPD as presenters at training events. Although a listing does not represent an IPD guarantee that service will be of a high standard, it does nevertheless suggest that service has been good enough to encourage at least one member to endorse it. For consultancy support in the areas of subjects, management review and preparation for inspections, members should contact ISI at www.isinspect.org.uk Information about teacher induction training can be found on the ISCtip website which is reached through contacting the ISC site at www.isc.co.uk. Details of training opportunities for members of Governing Bodies can be obtained by contacting AGBIS (Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools) via their website www.agbis.org.uk. In September 2006 IPD will be launching a new Consultancy Service. Work is taking place at the moment on the form this will take and on the areas to be offered. In the interim, IPD is available in an advisory capacity and the PDO does offer some on-site consultancy in five main areas: 'Leading Modern Departments', 'Encouraging between-teacher-interactions in the workplace', 'School and Departmental Self-Review', 'Staff Review' and 'Conducting a Staff Professional Needs Audit'.
