What's making the news this month?
- Last Year's Programme -
nearly 1500 colleagues attended IPD courses last year.
92% of delegates rated events as either 'very good' or 'excellent'.
Events took place across the UK, including a new event in
Scotland for Heads of Departments.
- New Events for Junior Schools
in response to demand, IPD is offering two new events
for Junior School colleagues this year. IPD01 'Conference
for Directors of Studies', will address value added,
assessment for learning, transition issues, broadening the
curriculum and leadership styles. IPD's 'Preparing for
Headship' event in March 2008 will be held at Ashville
College and will look at team roles and dealing with key
constituencies.
- Conference for Academic Deputies/Directors of Studies
after a seven-year sojourn in Europe, this very popular
event returns to the UK this year. The Conference will be
based at the Carton Hotel, Edinburgh, and has been brought
back to term time (15-17 November). COBISEC members have
been encouraged to send representatives to preserve the
European flavour of past events.
- ISPDS
IPD now offers a team of 17 consultants who can provide
on-site training and consultancy. See the ISPDS
section of the website for full listings and details about
how to book.
- More for middle and senior leaders
In response to growing demand, IPD will now be offering
additional events for those aspiring to lead academic departments
and those who are more experienced. In addition, more events
are offered for those preparing for senior leadership. One
of each of these very popular events will now be offered
in each school term and in different locations around the
UK. Separate events for middle and senior leaders will also
be offered in Ireland (Dublin) and Scotland (Glenalmond).
